Dr. Fox is always searching for the best treatments and procedures for her clients. She’s even developed her own treatments and techniques and offers the newest and most minimally invasive vein procedures on the market right now.

With such a variety of vascular treatments in Miami, it’s best to know your options and understand how each procedure treats a specific type of vein. Let’s review each vein treatment that Fox Vein & Laser Experts offer briefly, and Dr. Fox will review with you in much greater detail at your initial vein consultation appointment.

Visual Sclerotherapy

If you have small varicose or spider veins, then this treatment may be just for you. It is one of the least invasive and more comfortable treatments to get rid of those pesky veins, plus recovery is quick and it won’t interrupt your normal daily activities. Veins are effectively treated by using a fine need to inject a solution into them. This causes the walls of the vein to stick together, and it permanently seals off the vein. The body reroutes the blood, removes the treated vein, and replaces it with healthy tissue. After the treatment we recommend a daily walking routine so that you can maintain proper circulation and avoid the possibility of blood clots forming in the treated veins. This treatment is not suited for all types of veins, so Dr. Fox will need to evaluate your condition before determining if Visual Sclerotherapy is the best procedure for you.

Foam Sclerotherapy

When larger veins are at play, foam sclerotherapy treatment can be used. It uses the same solution as Visual Sclerotherapy, but it’s then mixed with air, which creates a foam. This denser solution can treat larger areas with similar results as the Visual Sclerotherapy procedure. The foam irritates the lining of the walls making them stick together and clot. The body then reroutes the blood and over time the body removes the treated veins. For larger veins, this treatment is much less invasive than traditional vein removal surgery. The procedure is painless and allows you to continue with your daily routine immediately. For people who want to treat larger veins, this is an option, however, if you suffer from certain conditions like a clotting disorder, Dr. Fox will have to evaluate you and then decide if this is the best path to take for your health.

Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy

There are times when veins aren’t easily seen, so Dr. Fox uses high-tech ultrasound imaging to locate and treat those veins.  The ultrasound technology helps guide the needle precisely into the vein where the sclerosing agent is administered. This solution works similarly to traditional sclerotherapy once it’s injected. Once these underlying veins are treated, it’s been seen that it becomes less likely for the smaller spider veins to appear near the surface of your skin. In addition to the increased accuracy with this treatment, the recovery time is much less than traditional surgery. As with any of the other procedures, it’s imperative that you have a consistent walking routine afterward so that you can maintain healthy circulation and avoid any blood clots.

Endovenous Laser Ablation

Another option for larger veins has always been invasive surgery in the past. However, thanks to the advances in technology, it’s no longer mandatory that Dr. Fox performs surgery.  Instead, she can use an FDA-approved laser to seal the veins without the downtime that surgery previously required and with a success rate of 98% with the help of Endovenous Laser Ablation. A thin laser fiber is inserted into the vein through a needle, using the same technique as if you were drawing blood. There is no cutting, no incision, and no scarring. Once inside, the laser releases energy as the fiber is pulled through the vein that gently heats the vein and causes it to collapse and seal shut. The blood is redirected and the vein becomes scar tissue that the body removes over time. It’s also good to note that treating underlying veins has been shown to reduce the risk of developing superficial veins, but if new veins do begin to appear in the future, a patient can choose to undergo this procedure again or one of our other options.

Ambulatory Phlebectomy

If we determine that we can’t treat your veins with visual sclerotherapy or lasers and perhaps surgery is the best option for you, this procedure is done under local anesthesia. Thanks to advances in medicine, major surgery is no longer needed to treat medium and large varicose veins that are on the surface of the skin. This procedure removes these types of veins through small incisions made through a needle or the tip of a blade, with little to no scarring. In addition, this procedure, which takes about an hour, gives patients more immediate results and quick relief than having to undergo numerous sclerotherapy sessions.

VeinGogh

This is another treatment to get rid of spider veins, but while other procedures use lasers or light therapies, this treatment uses a new Microburst technology.  This revolutionary frequency regulator delivers high-frequency electrical energy that comfortably and gently heats up the vein causing the walls to collapse so that the body reroutes the blood through healthy veins. The energy is delivered through a hair-thin probe that allows this treatment to be safe for all skin types and leaves minimal scarring if any. VeinGogh’s safety feature protects the skin during treatment so no recovery time is needed afterward. Over the several years that Dr. Fox and her medical team have performed this treatment on our patients, it has produced precise results.

During your consultation with Dr. Fox, she will review this option with you to decide if you are a good candidate for it. Some factors in your medical history will help her with this. Additionally, some veins, such as feeder or larger varicose veins, may not be treated with VeinGogh.

VenaSeal

If your legs feel heavy and swollen, this FDA-approved treatment may work for you. It is used to treat varicose veins and venous insufficiency, like the endovenous laser. Previously, to treat these twisted varicose veins required several lengthy treatments with a recovery period and downtime. However, now with advances in the field, a small insertion is made (usually small enough that no sutures are needed) and a thin catheter is inserted into the vein using ultrasound technology where the VenaSeal medical adhesive is administered. The adhesive permanently seals the vein and your body reroutes your blood, which improves the circulation in your leg. Right now your protruding veins may not even be causing you any symptoms. Over time, this could change, and your legs may start feeling heavy or swollen, so it’s best to treat them soon rather than later.
