How to take care of your Skin after Microneedling

Microneedling

Did you know that skin is the largest organ in the body? It’s just as important to take care of the outside of the body as it is the inside, and thanks to wonderful medical advancements in cosmetics, we have lots of options to do this.

Non Surgical Skin Rejuvenation Treatment

One of those skincare options is called microneedling, a non-invasive, non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment that stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastin in the body to address common skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentations, sun spots, scarring, loose and sagging skin, uneven texture, age spots and other unwanted signs of aging. While microneedling is most commonly performed on the face and neck, it can also be done on various areas of the body such as the thighs, stomach, and arms. Microneedling is an ideal treatment for overall skin revitalization.

The microneedling device uses multiple very very small, fine medical-grade needles that are rolled over the skin to create micro-channels, causing the skin to recognize that it has been hurt and go into a healing state to create new, healthy tissue. Yes, microneedling is essentially damaging the skin, which means that in order to see the best results possible, there is proper protocol to follow when it comes to skin care after microneedling.

Get Immediate Results with Microneedling

The best part about microneedling treatment in Miami is that results are seen almost immediately. You can see a new glow and radiance to your skin the same day as your treatment, and those results will just continue to get better over time, especially after a few weeks or months.

The days following a microneedling treatment is the most important to the general healing process. Although there is no downtime needed, you may experience minor redness, swelling, feelings of dryness and tightness in the area that was treated, however there should not be any pain. It is important to keep the area moisturized and hydrated, which can help reduce any of that redness or tightness you are experiencing.

Avoid using products with harsh ingredients, such as exfoliants or products with glycolic acid, retinol or any other active ingredients, and also stay away from harsh treatments like chemical peels or waxing. One of the biggest things to remember is to avoid direct sun exposure for at least a couple of days following the session, as during this time period, your skin is extra sensitive and could burn very easily. If you do have to be in the sun, make sure you apply an SPF with zinc that is at least 30 or more, and reapply as often as possible. If the microneedling treatment was done on your face, it is typically recommended to not wear makeup or sweat (this includes working out or going in a sauna) for at least 24 hours after the session. If you do need to put on makeup, we suggest using mineral-based products.
